Monoculture is dead!

Once upon a time you could stand around a water cooler and chat about common things. There were a finite number of television shows or radio stations or bands… not true anymore. With the number of resources one can tap to keep abreast of all that is interesting, there is no way to ensure that we have a familiar starting point. For lack of a better descriptor, that unified common ground was known as a monoculture. 

If we can skip by the obvious downside of such a monocultural approach, we can likely agree that it is very difficult to connect with people these days simply because they probably have no idea what you’re talking about. It’s not their fault, really… they aren’t seeing the things you are. They can’t… there’s just too much for anyone person to take in let alone, fully grasp. At least enough to have an interesting opinion. Now, you could suggest that this is troublesome. I prefer to err on the side of, no, it simply is what it is. If we’re ALL experiencing this… THAT is common ground. 

That’s where YOU and I come in. We’ve had some history. And because of that history, we have some common ground. And, so too do the others in this finite network. This year, you need to tap into more of that human to human potential. Machines are proving to be divisive. Humans… well, we all essentially want the same thing: to be appreciated and to be heard. 

This year is your year. If you put a little more humanity into the mix, the results will be surprising. So, start here. Take a look around. Reach out to let me introduce you to other great humans or to simply be one additional one you can count on… a tiny bit more.
